Golden necklace

Well, with christmas times and all, we had to find a gift for my grandmother.
That was quite hard, but my mom had a great idea : a beautiful scarf that she knitted some time ago.
I wanted to contribute something as well so I made her a necklace.

I used a gold plated chain and some beads in yellowish golden colours.

And I have to say, my grandmother was really happy with it. And I was very proud that I could tell her that I made it for her.
Everybody happy!

Delicious sand cookies

Yesterday I bought cookie forms, today I already used them.
I made these delicious sand cookies, they're really easy to make and they look so cute.

This is before they went in the oven, some are a little bit too thick, but I didn't have a rolling pin so I had to use an empty bottle of wine to roll out the dough.

These are the cookie forms I used and some leftover dough.

And these are my cookies, fresh from the oven. And they taste delicious!

If you also want to make these, here is what you need to do

Preheat the oven to 200°C

Ingredients:
- 250 grams of flour
- 100 grams of plain sugar
- 8 grams of vanilla sugar
- 1 egg
- 125 grams of butter

Put all of this together in a bowl and knead it untill you have a firm dough.
Then roll it out until it's about 1 cm thick and use the forms to stamp out the cookies.
Put them on a sheet of baking paper and put them in the oven for about 15 minutes. If they are a bit too thick, they might need a little longer, but make sure the outside doesn't get burnt.

I chose to keep them like that but you have endless possibilities.
For example, you can sprinkle them with powdered sugar or you can make your own icing to put on top, you can spread them with jam or chocolate spread or even peanut butter.

Have fun!

It's a blog!

After all this time thinking about a blog, I actually made one!
Since yesterday, I'm learning to crochet, so I finally have something to blog about. Not that my life is not interesting enough, but the crochet thing made it happen.

Today, I did some christmas shopping in Antwerp, but I couldn't resist buying something for myself.
I found my first baking book : "Stap voor stap bakken". It's a beautiful book, lots of illustrations and it has tons of recipes for me to try out. I also discovered these cute cookie forms, five little hearts and one has the shape of a cat. Can't wait to make some cookies!
My first crochet project is an iphone case, I've been working on it for almost four hours today (it's a two hour train ride back and forth to Antwerp) and it was almost finished when I discovered some mistakes so I practically had to start over. But hey, there's a first time for everything.
